3 Ways to Grow Your Business Alongside Your Market Sales
May 06, 2025
I love a good market -
The energy, the people, the joy of watching someone light up when they try your product for the first time — it’s magic. But if you’re putting all your energy into markets and not also building your e-commerce presence, you’re leaving a lot of opportunity on the table.
Here’s what I mean:
1. You’re invisible to people who would love you.
There are folks out there right now searching for exactly what you make. But if they can't find you online — or if your website isn’t set up to convert — they’ll never get the chance. Markets only reach the people who show up. A strong website? That’s how you reach everyone else in the entire country (at least!).
2. Your website gives you deeper data.
At a market, you know what sold — which is great. But your website tells you so much more: how many people visited a product page, what they added to their cart but didn’t buy, and what brought them there in the first place. That kind of insight helps you refine your pricing, product descriptions, and marketing in a way that no market day ever could.
3. Markets are amazing — but they’re also exhausting.
Early mornings, heavy lifting, being “on” all day. It’s a lot. And if markets are your only sales channel, that means when you’re not working, you’re not making money. A solid website lets your business keep running while you rest, travel, or take care of life.
So no, I’m not saying stop doing markets. Keep showing up if they bring you joy and customers. But also — upgrade your e-commerce game. Build a site that works just as hard as you do. That’s how you move from weekend hustle to long-term growth.
